Why Daily Creation is Important

In this day and time, creation is key to participating in the world. We all live in a digital space and strive to make content for others to receive. In order for us to reach our desired success, we need to learn how to tap into our full creative potential. More often than not, creatives seem to find themselves stuck and unable to materialize their ideas. What people don’t know is that creativity goes beyond talent; it’s actually a skill that needs to be developed through our habits. I have seen the wonders of what having the right habit can do for a creative beast! Let’s talk about how daily creative habits can turn you into an innovative powerhouse!

Get Your Mind Going

Creatives come up with the best ideas when we’re at rest, but our minds are active. Our creative process requires us to have room to play and experiment. Unfortunately, in order for us to be able to create, we need a little bit of structure. When we prioritize our creative activities in our daily routines, it makes it easier for our minds to get into a flow state to allow those ideas to “flow” in.

1. Set the Tone
Make the most of your morning by setting the tone for the day to work towards your highest creative potential. You can meditate, journal, and, for many of us, brainstorm in the shower. Starting your day with a mindful activity can set an intention. Utilizing the first moments of your day for creativity signals to your brain that it’s a priority.

2. Celebrate the Small Wins
When we create, we overlook those precious moments to find the flashy, trailblazing ideas acknowledged and celebrated by many. But creativity happens all the time, especially in small everyday tasks. You can build momentum towards the big moments by incorporating small tasks in your day, like doodling, journaling, or strategizing your outfit for tomorrow. Everyday creation works that creativity muscle, boosting your confidence to take on those big projects.

3. Set Boundaries Around Your Time
When something important comes up, what’s the first thing we get rid of? Time for creativity. We don’t prioritize our creativity on the same level as other tasks that we do in a day. If you want to develop your creative skills and mindset, it’s gotta be just as important as taking out the trash or washing the dishes. Set time aside to create in a distraction-free way each day. It doesn’t have to be long; a few minutes is all you need. It’s important to stay consistent.

Routinely Overcoming Creative Blocks

If you create, you’ve likely experienced a creative block. It happens to any and everyone. It’s a natural part of the process, but you don’t have to let them keep you from winning. One way to overcome those blocks is to establish habits to promote creativity even in those stale moments. We need consistent methods to overcome our limitations. It may seem counterintuitive to use routines to add spice back into your creative process, but it works!

1. Act Like a Kid n Play!
Making time for fun and play will start to break those blocks down. It removes the pressure of perfectionand allows you to explore and experiment with your creativity. It can be through dancing, creative games, or finding a new hobby. It’s all about refreshing your perspective to find new inspiration.

2. Reflect, Reflect, Reflect!
Reflection is often a missed or minimized step in the creative process. Meditation and journaling, any small action that you can turn into a daily habit, allows you to find any patterns in your thinking that are causing the blocks and produce solutions on how to move forward. Use this time to celebrate your wins and progress. You can look back on those moments when you need a boost of motivation.

3. Be a Forever Student
The basis of creativity starts by satisfying our curiosity with imagination and innovation, and sometimes, we need a little bit of a boost to get started. We might need a foundation to build our inspiration, so try to learn something new every day. Use what’s out there to learn! Take a trip to the library, watch the documentary, or take up a new skill. Learning new information reignites your creative spark and encourages new areas of play.

As a creative, you want to establish a lifestyle where creativity flows effortlessly. For creative geniuses, creativity is a way of life.
